Exactly as we said. We need to socially interact with our favorite small businesses. Like their posts, re-share their posts and even comment on their posts.
Shop Online
Many local businesses have online stores in addition to their brick-and-mortar locations. Whenever possible, consider giving them your business. Every order counts right now, even the small ones. If you have the funds, go ahead and get online shopping!
Buy a Gift Card
Want to inject some cash into a small business right now? Purchasing a gift card to your favorite shop, theater or restaurant is an immediate way to put cash into the business. Even if you aren't buying anything else because you're stuck at home, you can give your local shops or favorite restaurant a vote of confidence by spending even $25 on a gift card to use later, when life returns to normal. A lot of small businesses will even offer e-gift cards, making it that much easier for you.
Introduce a friend to your Favorite Small Businesses
Know someone who would love a favorite small business of yours? Introduce them! Tag them in a small biz’s social posts, send them an Instagram message about the business or even call them! Just by talking positively about a small business to your friends, family and social following will have an impact.
Take advantage of Discounts
Small businesses are running promotions and discounts right now for a reason. Take advantage of that! By purchasing now you’re helping them continue so they’re there for you in the future.
Treat people well and tip a little more than usual
If you do go to a restaurant or bar, or when you order takeout, consider being a little extra generous on the tips for wait staff and delivery people. A bigger tip may not directly contribute to a restaurant or bar’s bottom line, but it does help others and it contributes to the spirit of goodwill.
Leave a positive Google, Facebook or Yelp review
You don’t always have to spend money to help a business. Head to Facebook or Google and let others know about your positive experience with that business. Sometimes just knowing that people do recognize your contribution to your community gives a little extra boost.
All of these are things that we can do NOW to support our small businesses! People need to continue to spend money towards small and local businesses, and If you’re not in a position to financially contribute by shopping, consider doing some of the other things listed above.
If you are looking to support a fellow small business, consider Lakes and Grapes. Our products are inspired from the trails, waters and wineries we love. It’s about the memories that were made and the people they were shared with around a Lakes and Grapes moment.
