Here are 7 scary good horror movies & wine pairings for you to consume throughout your spooky week. Let us know in the comments below what your favorite pairing is!
1. Hocus Pocus and Bubbly
There's something magical about popping a bottle of bubbly to a childhood favorite! Like the wine, this beloved Disney classic is sure to keep you feeling good all night. Did you know that Hocus Pocus actually originated as a bedtime story? This lighthearted story is also loosely based on the Salem Witch Trials, the names and the dates are obviously fictional, but the story has some truth to it!
What to wear: The super cozy Women’s Crop Hoodie is undeniably going to make your movie night perfect.
2. Scream and Cabernet Sauvignon
Scream is a terrifying Halloween feature that pairs nicely with a bold, full-bodied Cab Sav. Did you know that Scream is partially inspired by a gruesome real-life murderer known as the Gainesville Ripper? Scream’s infamous screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, had such an incredible burst of inspiration that he wrote the entire movie in just under 3 days!
What to wear: The warm and snuggly Classic Hoodie is the perfect hoodie for a halloween classic.
3. Nightmare on Elm Street and Merlot
Nightmare on Elm Street deserves a plump, sensual wine, well-known for its red fruity flavors. Merlot is the perfect red to sit back with while viewing this movie. Did you know that Nightmare on Elm Street was the debut to Johnny Depp’s acting career? I bet Johnny Depp loves a good Merlot.
What to wear: We think you’d love the Wave Wash Lounge Hoodie to snuggle up with during this movie!!
4. The Shining and Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir grapes are known to grow in colder climates, making this the absolute perfect pairing with the icy desolate hotel from The Shining. Did you know that Jack Nicolson improvised his infamous line “Hereee’s Johnny!”
What to wear: The Classic Mustard Crew Neck is a great choice to cozy up with during this thriller!
5. Friday the 13th and Malbec
This bold horror film deserves a bold, full-bodied wine with dark fruit notes, that you surely won't forget. Malbec is the perfect choice! Did you know that the movie's infamous “Jason” is actually named the most prolific horror movie killer of all time? Jason also did not get his notorious hockey mask until the third movie.
What to wear: This movie will take you on a scary adventure through Camp Crystal Lake, be prepared with our Adventure Zip Hoodie.
IT and Sirah
This intense and daring flick obviously needs a bold, dark wine to pair with IT. The rich flavors that come with Sirah are scary good, you’ll have the most impeccable wine pairing. Did you know that Pennywise the clown isn’t actually a clown at all? That's right! Stephan King gave this “Interdimensional cosmic entity” a clown mask...because kids are drawn to clowns. AHHH creepy I know.
What to wear: We think you're gonna wanna pull the Classic Beanie over your eyes while watching this movie!
7. Casper and Rosé
A fun, family-friendly halloween classic pairs perfectly with this light, crisp wine. Did you know that Casper the Friendly Ghost dates all the way back to 1939? The character's debut appearance was in a children’s book in the late 1930’s.
