Traverse City Bachelorette Guide

Updated 2026 · Written by the Lakes & Grapes owner, Front Street, Traverse City

She picked Traverse City. And honestly, she couldn't have chosen better.

The wine trails, the lake, the kind of golden hour that makes everyone look incredible in photos — TC has everything a great bachelorette weekend needs, without the airport chaos or the Vegas price tag. It's the kind of trip where you show up thinking it's just a fun girls' weekend and leave wondering why you don't live here.

We're a Traverse City brand. This is our backyard. Here's how we'd plan the trip.

Where to Stay

The Delamar The Delamar is the answer if your group wants to feel genuinely taken care of. It's the most elevated stay in TC right now — beautiful rooms, great service, and a location right on West Bay that makes everything walkable. Grab a drink on their outdoor patio before you head out for the night. That pre-going-out hour at Delamar hits different. Best for: the group that wants the full elevated experience

Hotel Indigo Right on West Bay with some of the best views in the city. The rooftop is a legitimate stop for evening drinks even if you're not staying here — but if you are, you won't want to leave it. Modern, walkable, right in the mix. Best for: the group that wants a great rooftop and West Bay access

The Alexandra Inn A boutique bed and breakfast with serious charm. Smaller and more intimate than the bigger hotels — if your group is 4–6 and wants something that feels special rather than standard, this is it. Their rooftop bar is one of the more underrated spots in TC. Best for: smaller groups who want a boutique feel

Airbnb For larger groups, a vacation rental on or near the water is almost always the move. You get the kitchen, the shared space, the porch — and honestly, some of the houses on West or East Bay are hard to beat. Book early. The good ones are gone by February.

The Wine Trail

This is the main event. The Traverse City wine region sits on the 45th parallel — the same latitude as Bordeaux — and it genuinely produces world-class cool-climate wine. You have two peninsulas to work with: Old Mission and Leelanau. Pick one per day, or do a mash-up. Just don't try to do both in the same afternoon.

Pro tip before you go: Book your winery visits in advance. The best patios and tasting rooms fill up fast in summer and fall. If you want someone else to handle the logistics, use one of TC's wine tour companies — TC Wine & Beer Tours, Grand Traverse Tours, or Brew Bus will schedule all your reservations and handle transportation so your group can actually enjoy the day.

Old Mission Peninsula

Some of the most dramatic lakes and grapes views you'll find anywhere. Old Mission juts out into the bay and on a clear day you can see both East and West Bay from the same spot.

Chateau Chantal One of the most iconic properties in Michigan wine country. The estate views are stunning and the tasting experience feels elevated without being stuffy. If you do one winery on Old Mission, this is the one for the photos.

Brys Estate The frozen rosé (Frosé) on their upper deck with a view of East Bay is a bachelorette trip staple for a reason. Fun atmosphere, great wines, and a patio that was basically designed for group photos.

Bonobo More casual and laid-back than some of the bigger estates. Great wines, great people, and a relaxed energy that makes it a nice place to slow down mid-trail.

Mari Vineyards The underground wine caves alone make this worth a stop. Mari is doing some of the most interesting winemaking in Northern Michigan right now — and the cave tours and private tastings are genuinely memorable.

Bowers Harbor Vineyards A classic Old Mission stop with a beautiful setting right on the harbor. The patio is perfect for lingering.

Leelanau Peninsula

Leelanau is where it gets a little more adventurous. More wineries, more varied terrain, and a few stops that go well beyond just wine.

Rove Winery Situated on the highest point of the peninsula, the views from Rove are unmatched. Known for Pinot Noir and a strong sense of place. Worth the drive up.

Black Star Farms One of the anchor wineries of Leelanau — beautiful grounds, excellent wine, and they also do spirits and a creamery. It's a full afternoon if you let it be.

Mawby Michigan's best sparkling wine. If your group is there for bubbles specifically — and honestly, what bachelorette group isn't — make this a stop.

Brengman Family Wines Great wines and one of the more charming tasting room atmospheres on the peninsula.

Aurora Cellars Beautiful views and a welcoming vibe. A solid mid-trail stop.

45 North Vineyard & Winery Named for the parallel that runs right through this region. Good wines and a nice laid-back energy.

Two K Farms A smaller, more intimate operation that feels like a hidden gem compared to the bigger estates.

Beyond the Wineries: Hop Lot & Farm Club

Hop Lot Brewing If someone in your group doesn't drink wine (it happens), Hop Lot is the answer. Great craft beer, a relaxed outdoor vibe, and they're right in Suttons Bay. Perfect addition to a Leelanau day. A true Northern Michigan experience!

Farm Club This one is genuinely special. Farm Club is a working farm, restaurant, and gathering space that feels unlike anywhere else in TC. It's more of an experience than a winery stop — locally sourced food, great natural wine, beautiful setting. Put it on the itinerary.

Where to Eat

Dinner

Red Ginger Asian fusion, beautifully designed space, and one of the best cocktail lists and sushi spot in TC. This is your elevated dinner — the one where you actually get dressed. The Red Dragon cocktail is non-negotiable.

Boathouse Right on the water. The setting alone earns its spot on this list.

Sorellina A TC staple for good reason. Authentic Italian, great wine list, intimate atmosphere.

Artisan Elevated and locally focused. A great choice if you want something refined. Located at Delamar Hotel.

Little Fleet Not a sit-down dinner — it's an outdoor food truck court with craft cocktails, local beer and wine, and live music. Located down the street from our store on Front Street. It's one of those TC experiences that's hard to explain until you're standing there on a warm evening and you get it completely.

Brunch

Sisters Locally loved. The kind of brunch spot where you end up staying two hours longer than planned.

The Dandy Great food, great atmosphere, very bachelorette-friendly energy.

Red Spire Brunch House TC's dedicated brunch spot. If the group wants a proper brunch situation, this is it.

Towne Plaza Classic TC spot, good for a casual morning before a full day.

Day Drinking — The Rooftops

North Bar — Local favorite. Great cocktails, unpretentious, always a good time.

Hotel Indigo Rooftop H&L Social — The views of West Bay are the reason. Order something with bubbles and watch the boats.

Blush Rooftop at Alexandra Inn — More intimate than the Indigo. If you want the rooftop vibe without the crowd, this is the one. Amazing views with a pink vibe!

Coffee

Start every morning right. TC has a strong coffee scene — here are the ones worth knowing:

Espresso Bay · Mundo's · Seismoto · Good Harbor Coffee · Outpost Coffee

Any of these will serve you well. Mundo's and Espresso Bay are Front Street favorites.

The Folgarelli's Move

Before the wine trail, stop at Folgarelli's and grab deli sandwiches for the group. It's a TC institution — an Italian market and deli on Front Street that's been here forever. Get sandwiches, pack a cooler, eat them on the first winery patio you land on. You'll thank us.

On the Water

The lake is what separates TC from every other wine destination in the country. Don't skip it.

NautiCat Sailing Charters Our favorite thing to do on a TC bachelorette weekend, full stop. The NautiCat sunset cruise on West Bay is the perfect transition from wine trail afternoon to dinner and a night out. Bar on board, great music, and the kind of sunset that makes everyone reach for their phone at the same time. Book early — this fills up fast.

Walk the Waterfront Simple and completely free. A walk along the bay on a warm evening is one of those TC moments that costs nothing and delivers everything. Good conversation, great views, good way to slow the day down.

The Beaches

  • Clinch Park Beach — Right downtown, easy access, great for a quick dip between activities
  • Bryant Park Beach — A bit more local, great for lounging
  • Sleeping Bear Dunes — If your group has a car and a spare afternoon, drive out. The dunes and Lake Michigan shoreline out there are something else entirely. Worth the detour.

Kayak, Bike & Brew Kayak or paddleboard rentals on the water, plus guided tours. A morning on the water before the wine trail is an excellent life choice.

Boat Rental If your group wants to do TC on the water at your own pace, rent a boat for the afternoon. There are several rental operations on the bay — your hotel can usually point you in the right direction.

What to Wear

TC has a specific dress code that nobody wrote down but everyone who lives here understands: casual but put-together. Effortless, not sloppy. Vineyard-ready but lake-appropriate. You can go from a winery patio to a beach to a dinner reservation without changing if you planned right.

Here's how we think about it:

The Wine Trail The wine trail has a dress code that nobody wrote down but everyone figures out fast: cute but comfortable. You're walking patios, sitting on decks, and taking approximately 400 photos — dress accordingly. A preppy matching set, a sundress, or jeans with a Lakes & Grapes tee or sweatshirt all work perfectly here. Elevated enough to feel like the occasion, relaxed enough that you're actually comfortable doing it for six hours. Add a trucker hat and you're set. The whole group in matching hats without looking like you tried too hard is always the move.

The Beach and the Boat This is where the athleisure comes in. An athleisure skirt, a relaxed tee or tank, your hat on. Easy, looks great, moves with you.

Dinner and the Evening Put the summer dress on. TC evenings — especially on a rooftop or at Red Ginger — call for something a step up from beach casual. Bring a lightweight hoodie or jacket for later. The nights get cool along the Bay and you'll want it on the NautiCat.

The Group Gift Angle The easiest thing the maid of honor can do: order a trucker hat or a matching tee/sweatshirt for everyone in the group — or both. Everyone wears them the whole trip. Nobody looks like they coordinated and everybody looks like they did. That's the Lakes & Grapes effect.

p.s. Lakes And Grapes hats, glassware, tees and hoodies all make good gift bag items - they will actually wear it throughout the weekend and after the trip!

Wellness — Because Balance

Pilates: Form Pilates — TC's best studio. Book in advance.

Yoga: Dharamsala Yoga — A TC institution. Great way to start a morning before a big wine day.

HIIT: LuxBody — Private group sessions available. They do a bachelorette HIIT experience — contact them directly.

Spa: Grand Traverse Resort & Spa — The full resort spa experience. Book in advance for a group treatment.

Shopping Front Street

You can't do TC without spending time on Front Street. Browse the boutiques, grab an ice cream, wander. It's genuinely one of the best main streets in the Midwest.

The Weekend, Roughly

Friday Arrive and check in. Coffee from Espresso Bay or Mundo's. Walk along the bay to settle in. Dinner — Red Ginger if you want to get dressed, Little Fleet if you want the outdoor TC experience first. Rooftop drinks after — Hotel Indigo or North Bar. Early enough that everyone's ready for Saturday.

Saturday Farmers market in the morning if you're up for it — it runs Saturday mornings downtown and it's worth an hour. Brunch at Two Sisters or Red Spire. Wine trail in the afternoon — Old Mission or Leelanau, not both. Let the tour company handle the driving. NautiCat sunset cruise to close the day. Dinner reservation after.

Sunday Slow morning. Coffee. Folgarelli's sandwiches for the road. Front Street — stop into Lakes & Grapes for the bride gift bag and the crew discount. Head home already planning the return trip.

Practical Notes

Best time to visit: Summer (June–August) and fall (September–October). Both are excellent for different reasons — summer is peak lake energy, fall is peak wine harvest season and honestly some of the most beautiful weather in Michigan.

Book early: Wineries, the NautiCat, and restaurants like Red Ginger book out weeks in advance in summer. Don't wait.

Getting here: Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) has direct flights from several major cities. From Detroit it's about 4.5 hours by car, Chicago around 5 hours, Columbus around 5.5 hours. It's worth the drive.

Wine trail logistics: Let the tour companies handle it. TC Wine & Beer Tours, Grand Traverse Tours, and Brew Bus will plan your itinerary, make your reservations, and drive you. Worth every dollar.

Walk Club: If you're in TC on a Wednesday evening, come walk with us. Lakes & Grapes Walk Club meets weekly — check our events page for time and location. It's free, it's fun, and you'll probably end up grabbing a drink after with a group of people who love this town as much as you do.

One Last Thing

Traverse City isn't just a bachelorette destination. It's the kind of place people come back to — for anniversaries, for long weekends, for no reason at all except that it feels good to be here.

We hope you love it as much as we do.

Come see us on Front Street. The bride gets a gift bag and a hat on us.
